Senior Medical Billing Specialist

This full-time position encompasses all areas of the medical billing department. The billing team works as a close-knit unit, sharing functions and responsibilities, thus offering the opportunity to learn all aspects of the function and keep abreast of industry changes.

Location: Winter Park, FL

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Patient Demographics, Charge entry / review
  • Facilitate all activity with regards to electronic and paper claims submission
  • Follow-up on denials with practices / patients and resubmit with updated information
  • Post EOB / analyze short pays
  • Root Cause analysis of denials and short pays
  • Follow-up with insurance carriers, patients and guarantors. Review issues on-line and call counter-parties as required. Coordinate resolution with clients.
  • Prepare and send statements for patient balances
  • Process and mail paper claims
  • Answer phones and direct calls as required
  • Respond to client calls, answer billing questions and process CC payments made by phone
  • Maintain compassion with patients serviced, while following compliance and privacy guidelines
  • Retrieve mail from the post office, open and distribute as needed
  • Scan, and forward mail to relevant departments for processing
  • Print, process and mail statements, paper claims, and clarification requests
  • Make trips to local banks as necessary for deposits to client accounts
Skills and Experience
  • To perform successfully in this role, it is necessary to possess attention to detail. The ability to effectively manage time and complete tasks accurately is required.
  • Working knowledge of medical accounts receivable software programs, and concepts of AR management and follow-up required. Training will be provided
  • Experience in billing for medical practices required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office tools
  • Competence in math
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and independent judgment
  • College Degree or diploma preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • Two to four years of experience in medical billing
